Welcome to our Christmas and New Year’s edition of the magazine, where we decided that for this issue we would promote ‘pools’ as our theme for property. We know that in other countries around the world, the winter’s cold is seriously setting in and outdoor oases will be freezing over. But here in the Virgin Islands, the soothing heat remains, drawings many ‘snowbirds’ from colder climes to soak up the wonderful sun we are blessed with seeing year-round.
Our opening feature is an exclusive review of renowned hillside retreat Golden Pavilion, currently for sale in the British Virgin Islands. This famous property has a fantastic infinity edge pool to complement the rest of the abode’s incredible Balinese theme; certainly one unique property that after many years and some perceptive refits, still keeps us in gaping awe.
TigerQi Architecture join us again this month with Principal Lavina Liburd discussing their recent property transformation, converting a terraced garden at the Tower’s Estate home Sans Souci into a convenient, comfortable sanctuary suiting the name of the home which means “carefree.” Explore the renovation with our architect scribe who takes us on a creation-tour of the property’s beautiful new outdoor oasis.
Villas & Views follows suit with our theme of pools, focusing on advice for making the outdoors stunning; pools are a very common amenity for those blessed to live in the BVI so enjoy this model on how to optimally use your exterior areas.
Global offshore law firm Harneys’ offer their expertise and wisdom in the capacity of property purchase; advice we have traversed earlier this year, but a much-needed editorial on the ‘ins’ and ‘outs’ of this process—readers will be treated to the legal knowledge of the organisation bestowing a solid idea of what to expect when approaching this often-daunting subject.
Sea Style delves into the second part of our captains’ interviews with Captain Jon Bellemare of 83-foot catamaran Blue Gryphon, and Captain Sam Augspurger of all-inclusive sailing charter yacht, Starfish. Both relay some of the finer details of what it’s like to be a captain.
Yacht Spotlight boasts some ‘Air time’ with this incredible 164-foot Benetti built boat. This is a vessel fit for royalty—explosively extravagant in all her details. No exaggerating! Just take a look at our showcase.
Maritime History Tales sees the sloop restoration project begin anew with avid and inspiring women taking charge in what has traditionally been a male-orientated occupational field.
Our travel destination this month is St. Kitts and Nevis; the beautiful, hospitable island of the Caribbean whose amicability is one of the country’s most attractive cultural attributes.
To all of you reading, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year from all of us at VIPY. Wishing you enjoyment of the LAND, SEA, and LIFE in the Virgin Islands.
